Item Description:
Original factory magazine, 9 x 12, 16 pages, has a small piece of tape on tear at rear cover, has a vertical fold, some soiling. This is the February 1926 issue of " General Motors World Export Magazine " Vol 5 #2. This particular issue was adressed to HH Bassett, President of Buick in Flint. Many GM Cars shown throughout including Buick, Cadillac, etc. There is an article regarding HH Bassett and Russian Decorative Arts which were on display at the New York General Motors Headquarters. There was a silver service, which was awarded to Buick by the Russian Government with Buicks competing in the Russian Reliability Trials. Accompanying this magazine is an original two page typewritten letter, 7.5 x 10.5, some soiling, UNILLUSTRATED, which was written on the letterhead of the President of General Motors Export Corp, in New York, and sent to HH Bassett, Buick President. Very interesting content which described the new Russian Soviet Communist Government and their reliability trial in 1925 for automobiles and trucks. There were five prizes won by cars, and four of them went to Buick. This letter describes the two trophies that were awarded to Buick by the Russian Government and were described in the GM magazine. This trial covered 3300 miles from Leningrad through Caucasus mountains and on to Moscow. The roads were apparently some of the worst in the world. This letter was signed by JD Mooney, President of the GM Export Company.
